Our commitment to safety

Your son’s well-being is our highest priority.

At Fred Street Council No. 6, we are dedicated to providing a secure and professional environment where young men can grow with confidence. We maintain rigorous standards to ensure the safety of every member:

Vetted Leadership: All adult advisors undergo thorough background checks and screening to ensure they meet our high character standards.

“Two-Deep” Supervision: We strictly adhere to a policy where no youth member is ever in a one-on-one situation with a single adult. We require multiple leaders to be present at all times.

Code of Conduct: We enforce a strict standard of behavior that prioritizes respect, personal boundaries, and ethical conduct for everyone involved in our council.

Transparent Communication: We maintain an open-door policy, keeping parents informed and involved in our activities, outreach projects, and council operations.

We believe that a safe environment is the foundation for effective leadership and brotherhood. We are committed to maintaining that trust, every step of the way.

Meetings and Obligations

To ensure we maintain a standard of excellence and foster a culture of accountability, members of Fred Street Council No. 6 adhere to the following expectations:

Council Business & Workshops: Our meetings are the hub of our operation. Held on every third Saturday 2:00pm-3:30pm (subject to change) at the Highlands Shelter at 1991 Mark Ave. Lexington, KY 40511, these sessions are dedicated to council business, leadership training, and essential workshops. This is where we prepare, plan, and sharpen our skills.

Action in the Community: While our meetings provide the blueprint, the real work happens in the field. Our “lab” is the community itself. Members are expected to take the lessons learned within our council and apply them through active service, outreach, and hands-on projects throughout the area.

Upholding Our Values: Membership is a privilege defined by honor and respect. All members are expected to conduct themselves with integrity, representing the Knights of Pythagoras with dignity in our council, in school, and in every community project we undertake.

Commitment to Growth: We ask that every member approaches the program with a drive to learn. Whether in our workshops or out on the ground, your level of engagement directly influences your development and the legacy you build within our council.

Parents/Guardians Committee

At Fred Street Council No. 6, we believe that the most impactful development for young men happens when mentorship extends beyond our meetings and into the home. The Parent/Guardian Committee is the backbone of our support system, playing a vital role in the success of our council and the growth of our members.

Your Role as Partners: We view parents and guardians as our most important partners. Your involvement ensures that the principles of honor, integrity, and leadership we instill during workshops are reinforced and lived out daily.

Supporting the Vision: The Committee provides the essential logistical and moral support that allows our council to thrive. From assisting with community projects and transportation to coordinating event logistics, your active participation makes our outreach possible.

A Unified Front: When guardians are engaged, our young men see a unified front of mentorship. Your presence at events and your active interest in our council’s progress show our members that their commitment to excellence is valued by those who matter most.

Building the Village: You are not just supporting an organization; you are helping to cultivate a community of support. By joining the Committee, you gain direct insight into your son’s development and become a key influencer in the brotherhood we are building together.

Get Involved

The success of the Knights of Pythagoras relies on the strength of our village. We invite every parent and guardian to take an active role in our council. Whether you have time to assist with event planning, professional expertise to share during workshops, or simply want to support our community initiatives, your contribution is both welcomed and necessary.

The nine cardinal virtues

The Knights of Pythagoras are guided by nine core principles. These virtues serve as our moral compass, shaping the character of our members and defining what it means to be a young man of integrity:

Adoration and Reverence for God: Recognizing the importance of spiritual grounding and humility.

Love of Parents: Honoring the family bond and the guidance provided by those who raise us.

Righteous Thinking: Cultivating honesty, integrity, and sound judgment in every decision.

Purity: Striving for excellence in thought, word, and deed.

Patriotism: Demonstrating love for our country and dedication to the common good.

Toleration: Practicing respect for others and appreciating the diversity of our community.

Courtesy: Treating every individual with kindness, politeness, and genuine respect.

Friendship: Building loyal, supportive relationships that stand the test of time.

Constancy: Remaining steadfast in our commitments and true to our values, even when challenged.

These virtues are more than just words; they are the standards we hold ourselves to daily, both within our council and throughout our lives.

Council Officers & Leadership

The success of Fred Street Council No. 6 is driven by our young leaders who step into roles of responsibility to guide the council. These positions are designed to teach parliamentary procedure, public speaking, and the practical application of leadership.
